XERF Skin Tightening in Newtown, PA

XERF Skin Tightening Prep & Care

We’re looking forward to your upcoming XERF treatment! XERF uses radiofrequency energy to help rejuvenate and refresh your skin. Here’s how to prepare for the best possible results. Below, you’ll find your full pre-treatment prep checklist, followed by your post-treatment care guide.

Before Your Treatment
Anytime Before Your Appointment

  • Let us know about any metal implants, pacemakers, or defibrillators before your appointment.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, let us know — we may prescribe a preventive antiviral.
2–4 Weeks Before

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning — including tanning beds and self-tanners.
  • Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily on the area to be treated.
1–2 Weeks Before

  • Avoid chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or waxing in the treatment area.
5–7 Days Before

  • Discontinue retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin), glycolic/salicylic acids, and other exfoliants.
24–48 Hours Before

  • Drink plenty of water — proper hydration helps maximize your results.
1–2 Days Before

  • If your treatment area has hair, shave it.
Day Of Treatment

  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotions, deodorant, or oil on the area to be treated.

Questions before your appointment? Call or text us at 215.544.3883 — we’re always happy to help you get ready.

Please contact us to reschedule if any of the following apply:
  • You have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other metal implant near the treatment area that hasn’t yet been discussed with your provider — XERF uses radiofrequency energy.
  • You are pregnant or nursing.
  • You have an active cold sore, rash, sunburn, or infection in the treatment area.
  • You’ve had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, or waxing in the treatment area within the last 1–2 weeks.
After Your Treatment
Immediately After / First 1–3 Days

  • Mild redness and swelling are normal.
  • Please don’t apply ice or a cooling pack to the treated area — the controlled heat from your treatment is part of what makes it effective.
  • Keep the area moisturized daily with a gentle, non-occlusive moisturizer.
First 24–48 Hours

  • Anything that raises your blood flow or body temperature — exercise, hot showers, saunas, steam rooms — can temporarily increase redness or warmth.
5–7 Days After

  • Skip retinoids, exfoliants, and other potentially irritating products.
1 Week After

  • Avoid alcohol-based skincare products.
  • Mineral makeup can be applied once your skin feels calm and comfortable again.
Throughout Your Treatment Series

  • Sun protection is essential to protect your results — apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ daily, and avoid direct sun exposure.
