Dermal Filler in Newtown, PA

Dermal Filler Prep & Care

We’re looking forward to your Dermal Filler appointment. Here’s how to prepare for a comfortable treatment and the best possible results. Below, you’ll find your full pre-treatment prep checklist, followed by your post-treatment care guide.

Before Your Treatment
Anytime Before Your Appointment

  • If you have a history of cold sores, let us know before your appointment — the injection process can occasionally contribute to a recurrence.
2+ Weeks Before (If You Have an Event)

  • If you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks in advance so any bruising or swelling has time to resolve.
1 Week Before

  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs, as well as St. John’s Wort, Gingko Biloba, garlic, flax oil, cod liver oil, and high-dose Vitamin A or E supplements — all of these can increase bruising risk.
3 Days Before

  • Consider starting Arnica Montana (12C) to help minimize bruising and swelling — continue through 5 days after treatment. Ask us if you’d like a recommendation.
2 Days Before

  • Discontinue Retin-A/retinoid skincare products (also avoid for 2 days after treatment).

Questions before your appointment? Call or text us at 215.544.3883 — we’re always happy to help you get ready.

Please contact us to reschedule if any of the following apply:
  • You currently have a cold, active blemish, or rash on your face — we’ll ask you to reschedule.
  • You are pregnant or nursing.
  • You have an active infection in the treatment area.
  • You have a bleeding disorder or are on blood-thinning medication that hasn’t been cleared with your provider.
After Your Treatment
First 6 Hours

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or manipulating the treated areas.
First 24–48 Hours

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, high-sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, and cigarettes — these can all contribute to extra swelling.
  • If lip filler was part of your treatment, avoid using a straw or drinking directly from a water bottle for the best results.
  • Swelling and tenderness are common and typically peak around 24 hours. A cold compress can help immediately after treatment.
First 3 Days

  • Avoid vigorous exercise and sun or heat exposure.
Until the Next Day

  • Skip makeup and lipstick — earlier use can cause breakouts.
Following Days (Up to a Week)

  • Swelling and redness gradually resolve. Avoid sunbathing and cold outdoor activities until they do.
  • It’s normal for one side to settle faster than the other — reserve judgment on your final results until your 2-week mark.
2 Weeks

  • Please wait a full 2 weeks before requesting any touch-up or correction, so the product has time to fully settle.
  • We recommend a follow-up to check in on your results together.

If anything you’re experiencing doesn’t match what’s described here, or healing feels off in any way, please call or text us at 215.544.3883 — don’t wait for your follow-up. We’d rather hear from you.
